Spiritual Warfare Basics

Believers must understand that we are in a war! It's a spiritual war and we are all called to fight in it.

When Jesus came and gave us the victory at the cross – it wasn’t the end of the war… it was the beginning!

If you are in the Kingdom God, there is a war going on over you. It’s time for us to be equipped for every good work. Learn how to overcome the wiles of the devil using these warfare tools. Let the Holy Spirit show you which tool is right one for the circumstance you might be in…

The Word of God – Jesus used the Word of Go to fight the devil in the desert. Simply declare the word of God over a situation (i.e. declare Psalm 91 out loud)

Worship the Lord in Your Circumstance – Worship is a sword against the devil and one of the most powerful weapons we have. When you are fighting offensively or defensively, true worship can decimate the enemy’s forces.

Use the Name of Jesus – Use the name of Jesus when you pray and when you decree His will be done – say “in the name of Jesus!”

John 14:13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Philippians 2:9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Put on the Armor of God – Sometimes we experience warfare because we do not have our armor in place. Inspect your armor regularly. Ask God to show you if you are missing a piece of their armor. MANY times people do not have their helmets on.

Dying to Self /Carry Your Cross - Die to yourself, your own opinion, the world’s approval, even the approval your own brothers and sisters in Christ, show yourself approved only to Christ DIE DAILY! This removes the button that the enemy likes to push to get us neutralized.

Praying in the Spirit (tongues) - "for we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us" (Rom. 8:26) Praying in tongues is a secret language between you and God – it is also the way to ensure that you are praying ‘perfect words.’ As you pray in tongues, you have a direct line to the president of the universe.

Pray in Agreement with 2 or more – get with your friends or family and pray together.

Matthew18:19 "Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. 20"For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst."

Confessing our sin - Confessing sin and asking God to deliver us from the enemy can be a very useful tool. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Binding and loosing – Declare: I bind the spirit of (heaviness, lust, discouragement…)_______ from over my life. I loose the spirit of (joy, peace, hope…)_______ over my life.

Matthew 16:19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

Pleading the Blood of Jesus – simply pray to apply the blood of Christ to whatever you want protected. (Your family, your home, your vehicles…)

Perseverance – Sometimes the answer in spiritual warfare is simply to keep going.

Ephesians 6:13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then…”

Pray for Angelic Help – “I release angels to (gather/heal/war/protect…) in Jesus name.”

Hebrews 1:14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

Fasting – some kinds of demons only come out through fasting – (Matthew 17:21)

Isaiah 58:6 "Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? ….8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. 9 Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.

Building Up Our Faith – Build up your faith by believing God’s word. Believe that you can do what He said you could do! Believe that the power of Christ in you is greater than the power of the evil one.

Luke 17:6 He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you.

Fleeing (from sin) – The answer for some spiritual warfare is to flee from sin!

1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. 1 Corinthians 15:33 "Bad company corrupts good morals."
