How to Break the Hold of a Narcissist

All narcissists are swindlers.

They swindle you out of money, time, energy, and intelligence through a false relationship. They take all of these things from you in order to build their own kingdom.

When you finally tell narcissists "NO!" they point the finger at you and complain that you aren't very loving or they call you rebellious.

But the truth remains - having a relationship with a narcissist and never telling them no will cost you almost everything.

As a Believer, you are not called to build anyone else's kingdom... not even your own.

We are called to build an everlasting Kingdom by bringing heaven to earth. You were born to build a Kingdom that is not of this world.

Be careful that you are not wasting your life and your calling by serving a Narcissist's kingdom.

Six signs of narcissism:

1. They don't listen well to others.

2. They know more. They know better. They are superior.

3. The rules don't apply to them.

4. Can dish out criticism, but can't take it.

5. It's never their fault. It's always yours.

6. They believe others exist to meet their own needs.

If you are in a relationship with a narcissist, it's time to break their hold on you! Use this BREAKING UNGODLY SOUL TIE tool...(Click Here) and stop their controlling influence...God did not create you to build a kingdom for a narcissist. You are just as valuable to God as they are. Stop letting narcissists tell you what to do.

Love God first. Then love people. Keeping this correct order of love will protect you from wasting your life.

As Believers, we must love God first and seek His Kingdom first. We must not love our lives more than we love God.

The basis of God’s Kingdom is that we love God FIRST!! After that - we love people. If this order of love is twisted then the entire foundation of our relationship with God (and then people) will not work.  Our crooked places must be made straight by loving God more than we love people.

Jesus demonstrated this.  He was willing to walk away from everything and everyone in order to obey His Father!

If LOVE begins with the Father, then He will show us how to love with wisdom and depth of insight.  We won’t find ourselves in co-dependent cycles.  We won’t find ourselves being used by others.  We won’t find ourselves trying to “save” people with a “god” complex because by putting Him first, we love others with His love... not our fleshly understanding and shallow definition of love.

Jesus did nothing without the Father’s permission.  He only did what he saw the Father do.  He only spoke the words the Father spoke.  Jesus’s radical obedience was because He loved the Father... even to the point of dying on the cross.

Jesus loved His Father with all of his heart - mind - soul - and strength and He was willing to lose everything because of this love.  Let this be our goal!!

Father God please forgive us for loving people more than we love you.  Forgive us for loving our family more than you.  Forgive us for loving positions, money, power, and our lives more than we love You.

Let us love as Jesus did and obey you in all things!  Let our definition of love come from You and not the world.  Remove faulty thinking from our minds and renew our minds according to the Holy Spirit.  Put our love in the right order in Jesus name AMEN!

I know this is going to sound foreign to some of you, but hear me out, because God wants to set some of you free!

Some of us have made friends with the spirit of torment, and it’s TIME TO BREAK UP!

As I have coached and counseled people to emotional freedom, I have found we often believe several lies causing us to make the spirit of torment our friend.  I know that sounds crazy, but it is the SAME THING as self-pity.  There is something about feeling sorry for ourselves we wrongly believe gives us power.  When the door in our life is open to the spirit of torment, we can learn to use that spirit in manipulative ways to bring us something we want.

The lies that open the door to a spirit of torment can come when we are children; we learn if we are in torment we get special treatment.  We learn if we are hurting, people pay special attention to us.  Sometimes it’s the only kind of love children can get, the spawn of negative reinforcement.  Children learn to make their torment known because it’s the only time they feel comforted and special.

As children, we can learn that being tormented gives us power. This spills over into adulthood.

We sometimes welcome torment as a way of pampering ourselves.  We think I had a bad night of torment, so I’ll comfort myself with chocolate, or by checking out for a few hours on Netflix, or by posting something on Facebook to seek attention.  I’ll go on a little shopping spree because I’ve been so tormented lately.

So we tolerate torment because it gives us the power to pamper ourselves, and to gain some attention.

THIS. IS. A. LIE!  God loves to pamper His children.  He doesn’t need an excuse to pamper us.  Neither do we need an excuse to pamper ourselves.  It’s OK to have chocolate, Netflix, and shopping without it being a “reward” for your suffering.  But, it’s not okay to use “your suffering” as an excuse to gain attention.

At times we can think that torment makes us holy.  We wrongly believe we’re so tormented because God has a “special plan” for us.  An example would be:  “God” wakes me up in the middle of the night and gives me prayer assignments.  In all actuality, God does not “torment” special people.  The Bible says “…[God] grants sleep to those he loves.” Psalm 127:2.  A spirit of torment may wake you up in the night, and GOD may take the opportunity to give you something to pray about.  But, if you aren’t getting the sleep you need, and it is regularly causing you a lack of healthy sleep – then IT IS a spirit of torment.

I remember one time a pastor telling me he was constantly being awakened by God in the middle of the night, and God would speak to him.  Sometimes he was so wide awake that he would go for walks in the middle of the night.

He felt God had chosen him to download many things in the night, and he felt special.  But, he was suffering for it in the daytime.

He was constantly tired and grumpy.  He was running on fumes, but he believed it was God, so he asked his family to pay the price that he just wasn’t going to be 100%.  I was able to share with this pastor this didn’t feel like God.  God wants to grant sleep to those he loves, and He is not a hard taskmaster.  I thought the enemy might be tormenting him.  He believed me, and we broke off that spirit.  Then, the pastor’s life returned to normal.

Torment doesn’t make you holy or special. Torment is just torment – it’s an evil spirit. If you are a son or daughter of God, you have authority over it.  A Father who loves His children doesn’t WANT to see His children in torment.  He can pamper us, and comfort us, and let us feel loved without using a spirit of torment.  God DOES NOT want His children to be tormented!

If this resonates with you, if you have used a spirit of torment as a way of receiving love or comfort, if you have thought a spirit of torment made you holier – it is time to BREAK UP with this spirit!

Always remember, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7.  The spirit of torment is not these things!

Freedom in Obedience - Guest Post by Michelle Daugharthy

I'm so pleased to introduce my friend Michelle Daugharthy to you.  Michelle is a beautiful person inside and out.  She has allowed God to take her mess and create a beautiful masterpiece from her life.  She is a wonderful wife, mother, and actress!  She acts in commercials and small films AND she writes!  Enjoy this piece of wisdom that she has written for us.

I am going to say something that may sound counter-intuitive.

There is FREEDOM walking in obedience.

We were actually created this way.  We crave safe boundaries; it creates security.  A child will continue to push against any boundary you put in place to see if you really care enough to mean it.

“Yes! If you don’t play in the street, then you are FREE to stay alive! That is how much I love you!”

“Yes! If you are home by curfew and do not go to your boyfriend’s house alone, then you are FREE to not be burdened with the guilt that weighs from sexual sin! That’s how much I love you!” We can often fear that if we agree to walk in obedience to the Lord, He will ask us to give up something we love or do something really hard.

And He might. BUT, trust me, if He asks you to give it up, it is because there is something better in store!

A few years after my divorce, I was dating a man long distance for almost two years. It was a challenging relationship. He was a good, Christian man, but had some deep struggles with being OCD and over-critical that were less than life-giving in our relationship.  We broke up a few times, and each time I felt like we were supposed to get back together. He had so many of the qualities I longed for in a husband.

The thing is, he had a reeeeaaallly hard time committing to marriage because he was afraid he would regret his choice later. I always went back and just tried to “work harder” on our relationship. The deeply implanted wounds and issues were not healed, and things got very bleak and hard again.

When I was praying about what to do, I felt the Lord ask me, “If you knew I had something better for you around the corner, would you give him up?” I actually did not have to think too long…”Yes, Lord. I will do that and trust you.”

So I broke it off for good. He pleaded and pleaded with me to give him another chance, but I calmly held my ground. It was hard. I gave something up I really wanted. And it hurt. But I also felt peace in the midst of that because I knew I obeyed God. I felt more free out of that relationship! I was even able to get to a place of being ok if I did not get married again because I knew the Lord was enough and He was taking care of me.  Six months later, I met a man whom I was pretty smitten with right away.

Friends, God is SO good.

He knew what I needed in a mate, and I believe He had this man in mind for me. (God just had to perform a minor miracle and move him back to our city!) Long story short, we married about 2 years after we met. Now we have been married almost 9 years and have added two kids to our family, in addition to my daughter I have from my previous marriage. Is it perfect? No.  Do we sometimes struggle?  Yes. But it is GOOD.  So good.  And don’t we all want what is good, the best for us?

God is a good father and knows how to give good gifts – the best gifts!

That is what He loves to do! In fact, His word tells us how He likes to give gifts: “ …which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”  (Matthew 7:9-11.)

Freedom does not mean just getting to do what we want.  Freedom is defined as the state of being at liberty rather than in confinement.  Friends, sin leads to confinement, to bondage….to slavery.  Obedience is for our protection, and for our promise for freedom!

Walking in obedience to God will always lead to greater joy, peace, and freedom! Will you follow and obey Him today?

How to Encourage Yourself in the Lord on Your Worst Day

Life is full of hills and valleys. I remember my grandmother in her late 70s dealing with a prolonged attack by the devil who sought to steal her peace by shutting down her secret place with the Lord. She couldn’t hear him very well for months on end and she had loved the Lord and served Him her entire life.

The enemy will do his best to cause us to question God’s love for us.

It’s the strategy he used in the garden with Eve... “God doesn’t really have your best interests at heart. He’s actually just keeping you in the dark and controlling you.”

David had one of these deep valleys right before his destiny came to fruition.  (1 Samuel 30) David and his men came back to their homes after a long season of warfare. They found that their town had been ransacked. Their wives and children and all of their belongings had been stolen by the Amalekites. On top of all of that, David’s own men were so distraught that they whispered behind his back that it was time to stone him.

That’s a pretty low valley.

But David, the man after God’s own heart, did not fall apart and become a victim of his circumstances. David “encouraged himself in the Lord.”

David reminded himself of God’s goodness. He reminded himself of all that God had done for him. David worshipped the Lord in the midst of his valley. And even though he didn’t understand, he chose to trust God and he asked for the ephod. In our day this would be the same as opening the Word of God and asking for direction... or inquiring of the Lord and receiving direction from the Holy Spirit.

God gave David direction for recovering everything he had just lost. David didn’t realize it... but on the other side of the Kingdom at the very moment that he was choosing to encourage himself in the Lord, his very destiny was about to be fulfilled. David had been waiting for God to hand the Kingship over to him. At the same time David chose to not become a victim, Saul was being removed from office and David became King just a few days later.

The enemy fights us the hardest the closer we get to our breakthrough.

We must all learn how to encourage ourselves in the Lord like David did. We must learn to force ourselves to praise the Lord even if we don’t “feel” like it. We must remember His goodness even when our lives are seemingly falling apart.

We must always inquire of Him for direction. Even if we think we cannot hear God, He will find a way to get us the answer to our questions.

My grandmother praised God even though He seemed silent. She didn’t change anything about her daily devotions or prayer time. I will never forget the look on her face when she told me the storm had passed. She was so full of joy. She felt closer to the Lord than she ever had. She made it through the valley and won the victory!

You can make it through your valley as well. DECIDE that you are not a victim. DECIDE to praise Him and read His word. DECIDE to remember all of the good things He has day be for you.

DECIDE to encourage yourself in the Lord. Your destiny may be coming to pass on the other side of the Kingdom!

When I first ventured beyond the veil into the realm of the Holy Spirit, I surely had some fear to subdue. I liked the nice shallow water of the soul realm. Everything was nice and calm in the shallow end of God’s Kingdom. I was safe, and nothing about my faith was weird.

But I desired the Lord so much that I followed Him to the edge of the shallow end and faced a waterfall. I was unwilling to jump off for some time. But my relationship with the Lord was going nowhere and I couldn’t seem to get any closer to Him. I shared my dilemma with one of my pastors. I told him that I wanted more of the Lord but couldn’t seem to get any closer. He answered me with words of wisdom that opened the door to the craziest adventure of my life. My pastor said, “Do you need more of the Holy Spirit, or does the Holy Spirit need more of you?”

Initially, I did not know the answer to this question. But I soon found out that it was all a setup by Jehovah Sneaky! He had heard my heart’s cry for more of Him but gently revealed to me that if I wanted more of Him, I had to be willing to pay a price.

God said to me, “Tisha, are you willing to be a fool for Me?”

I answered yes without much thought to the cost that I had just agreed to. I agreed to take the leap off of the waterfall into the deep, exciting, wonderful, and weird world of the Holy Spirit. I didn’t know it at first, but it would be a leap would that cost me everything.

As I stepped beyond the veil into the Holy of Holies, I began to SEE with the eyes of my heart the unseen realm of spiritual warfare. I began to SEE and EXPERIENCE a realm other than the physical one. It was exhilarating. It was full of wonder. It exposed my fears and forced me to deal with my wounds. I had my feet in two worlds. The physical one and the spiritual one – and while I was enjoying getting closer to the Holy Spirit… the people around me were not happy about it.

I became “scary” to some of my closest friends. I became “crazy” to my unsaved family. I became “wicked” to the church I attended. In a very short time, I had become the “fool” that I had agreed to become in order to be closer to the Lord. I had been rejected by more people than I can count.

But… it was SO worth it!

You see, I was in very good company in the deep end of the Kingdom. Jesus Himself was considered a fool. He was Beelzebub to religious leaders. (Luke 11) He was “out of his mind” to His family. (Mark 3) His own disciple rebuked Him for talking about His crucifixion. (Matthew 16)

Jesus did CRAZY things like touching the lepers. He turned water into wine. He walked on water and told winds and waves to be still. He ate with tax collectors and prostitutes. He rebuked unseen demons. He forgave sins and let the guilty go free. He talked to His unseen Father and heard Him talk back. He prophesied future events. And then to top it all off… he called a dead man to come out of the grave after he had been dead for four days.

This is the Man I follow.

This is the Kingdom which I belong to. The crazy one. The one that makes no sense to the physical, logical world.

Some of you have been asking for more of the Lord, but you have a fear of the Holy Spirit. You have a fear that He will make you speak in other tongues and do weird things like putting mud in a man’s eyes to heal his sight. You fear being mocked. You fear being called a “fool” by the world.

But this is the Man that you chose to follow.

He blesses the shallow end, but He lives in the deep end. He doesn’t always give you all the details. It’s not always safe. Honestly, it’s not always fun. But it’s where He is… He’s beyond the veil.

Jesus ignored the religious. He walked away from His controlling family. He patiently endured His disciples… and He finished His calling. He showed us HOW to live in two worlds at once.

He is inviting you beyond the veil to be a fool for Him. He wants you to hate the shallow end. He wants you to dive head first into His craziness.

Because -- it is in the midst of what this world calls “crazy” that His Kingdom is found.

Are you ready for more? Let’s take the leap!

Why Renouncing These Five Things Will Give You More Peace

Most of us could use more peace in our lives, right?

There is a practical prayer we use in our ministry that I wanted to share with you. When we have people pray it their peace increases, and they are able to come to a higher place of trusting God.

It’s the renunciation of the five “I wills.”

Have you ever read these in the Word of God?  They are the five “I wills” that Lucifer proclaimed when he was trying to rob God of His seat in heaven.

They are found in Isaiah 14:13-14  You said in your heart, “ I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”

Satan’s pride had reached a height at which he thought that he knew better than his Creator. He thought he could do a better job of running heaven. He looked at his own beauty and thought he had become God. Then he said in his heart these five “I wills.”

When Adam and Eve took Lucifer’s fruit, they joined with him in agreement with these five “I wills.” Eve wanted to know as much as God did.  She wanted to be like God and Lucifer convinced her that all she had to do was eat the forbidden fruit and she too could have as much knowledge as God did.  She then drew her husband into the deception as well.

In taking the fruit, they sided with God’s enemy and joined themselves to the same “I wills.” Whenever we question our “position” God has given us, and we decide that God isn’t generous enough and we want MORE than our allotted place in life, we are guilty of the same sin as Lucifer who said, “ I will ascend to the heavens.” He wasn’t happy with the beauty and the position and the leadership of worship that his Maker had given him – in his heart he still wanted more.

Whenever we have distrusted God and thought it was a better idea for us to sit on the throne of our lives rather than letting God sit on our throne, we are guilty of the same sin as Lucifer who said, “I will raise my throne above the stars of God.” He wanted control.

Whenever we have questioned God’s ways and assumed that we could do a better job writing His story, we are guilty of the same thing that Lucifer said, “ I will sit enthroned on the mountain assembly.”

Essentially, I will tell a better story to the people, and they will love me for it. He wanted to be idolized by the people. Whenever we have wished for fame or to be lifted up in front of people we are guilty of the same thing that Lucifer said, “ I will ascend above the tops of the clouds.” He wanted to be seen above God. He wanted to be exalted in front of all creation.

Whenever we have decided that we know best and do not think we need to seek the Lord’s will first, we are guilty of the same thing Lucifer said, “ I will make myself like the Most High.” He wanted to be the ruler of the world.

In all honesty, I think it is safe to say that we are guilty of at least one of these “I wills” and if you’re like me, you have been guilty of all five at some point in your life.  It is a very simple prayer of repentance and renunciation that will set us free from thinking that we know better than God…

We merely need to humble our selves and renounce all five “I wills.”

(Don’t hesitate to repeat the prayer whenever pride rears its head and you begin to think you are better than God.)

Prayer to renounce the five “I wills.”

God forgive me for not humbling myself before You and thinking that I am better than you in any way. I know that You are a better story writer.  I know that You have given me an awesome inheritance with Christ and I don’t need more. I know that I do not need fame to have significance, I only need Your approval. I know that You see all things and I can trust You to be a good ruler over the whole earth.

1. I renounce that I will ascend to the heavens.

2. I renounce that I will raise my throne above the stars of God.

3. I renounce that I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly.

4. I renounce that I will ascend above the tops of the clouds.

5. I renounce that I will make myself like the Most High.

Forgive me for sitting myself on Your throne, I invite you to sit there now and surrender my life into Your hands!

In the mighty name of Jesus, AMEN!

A Look at Pornography from the Spiritual Warfare Side

I want to give you a peek into what happens in the spiritual realm when men AND women get addicted to pornography.

It is by opening the eyes of our hearts that we can use our spiritual senses to assess the demonic warfare and use the correct spiritual weapon to battle the enemy of our souls.

Even if you don’t personally struggle with pornography, this in-depth look at how the enemy “hooks” people will give you understanding… and probably a little compassion for their struggle.

I will also give you some spiritual warfare tools to get free yourself – or to help set others free.

The clearest way to show you the scheme of the enemy is to look at what happened to Solomon.

Solomon lost his entire kingdom because he was addicted to sex.

Lukewarm Solomon

When I was teaching my boys about the Kings of Israel, I taught them that Saul had no heart for God. David had a whole heart for God...and Solomon had half a heart for God. All three of these men were flawed.  The difference between them was their fruit when they were confronted with sin.

Saul didn’t care. He had a cold heart.

David was crushed.  He had a hot heart.

And Solomon wanted to have it both ways. He had a lukewarm heart. Solomon wanted God but he also wanted his wives.

These foreign women enticed him and he began to worship other gods…

“King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh’s daughter—Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites. 2 They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites, “You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love. 3 He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray. 4 As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been. 5 He followed Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians…”  I Kings 11:1-5a

Look at the first god(dess) that Solomon worships… her name is Ashtoreth.  She is the goddess of sexuality and fertility.  She is actually worshipped through sex acts.  She has other names as well – Queen of Heaven, Jezebel, Asherah, Isis – the enemy has many names but it is the same spirit.  Solomon worshiped an idol of sex and lust.  This turned his heart away from God.  It says that Solomon held fast to them in love.  This is because the devil knew exactly how to draw him away.

It is not a coincidence that the first idol the Bible mentions Solomon worshiping is Ashtoreth.  Because when we worship idols, we join ourselves to them.

Idols, Demons, and Sin Energy

All idols are actually demons.  Paul says in 1 Corinthians 10:20 “…the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons.”

It’s like we take an electrical cord from our minds and our souls and plug directly into the evil spirit.  Then there is an exchange of sin energy.  We get “energy” from worshiping the idol. (Solomon got an emotional high from worshiping the goddess of sex.)

And we give “energy” to the spiritual demon by submitting to it through worship. Whatever we worship has power over us.  What Solomon did when he worshipped the goddess of sex was to hand over a piece of his mind and his soul and he was grafted into Ashteroth.

Even though he knew he should repent and heard the call of Father God to come back… he literally could not do it. He had a covenant with it and was now married to Ashteroth. Now that Solomon was intertwined with a demon, there was no way that demon was going to let go. And in all honesty, Solomon obviously liked how he felt when he worshiped that demon.

If you love pornography more than you love God, the same thing that happened to Solomon will happen to you.

If you are half-hearted about walking away from your demon worship, you can never be fully delivered. Also – if you want to be set free for selfish reasons it probably won’t stick.

If you want to get rid of pornography because of what other people might think of you or if you want to get rid of it because you might lose your job or your family then the deliverance won’t stick.

However… for men and women who DO love God more than their pornography there is good news.

If you are willing to give up the agreement you have made with pornography and sex, and if you are willing to run after the heart of God no matter the cost – the blood of Jesus has made a way for your deliverance.

Weapons of our Warfare

The key to getting free and staying free is untangling yourself from this demon by using the spiritual weapons that tear down strongholds. You cannot get free from a demon by “trying hard enough.”

Getting free means that you cut off the STRONG-hold that the demon has over you by using spiritual weapons.

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:4

We must use our powers of binding and loosing. When getting from pornography and sex addiction there are two different tools we must use.

First, we must issue a certificate of divorce from the covenant with the demons. There are a trio of three demonic powers that “travel” together.

This trio is Baal (who is the god of rebellion), The Queen of Heaven [another name for Ashtoreth] (the goddess of sex and manipulation), and Leviathan (the god of pride and truth twisting).

If you have made a covenant with one of these – you’ve made a covenant with all three. Therefore, we must pray for a certificate of divorce from all three at the same time. This is a form of “loosing” them from your spirit, soul, and body.

The second weapon we must use is against Lucifer himself. He is the one who offered the forbidden fruit and by taking the forbidden fruit you also have made a covenant with him. So a second “untangling” or “loosing” is necessary.

You can find both of those prayers below.

I can tell you that I know of men who have wholeheartedly returned to the Lord after suffering the damage of pornography in their souls who have been completely freed after praying these untangling prayers.

They can still hear the invitation of the spirit to join her… but they can easily bat down the invitation with their armor. Before they prayed the prayer of untangling, nothing was strong enough to resist her except for extreme isolation filled with harsh rules and regulations. But God’s true freedom should not feel like bondage.

Freedom is free. True freedom can walk past temptation without a second look.

I pray for each of you who are struggling with pornography and addiction. I decree and declare over every one of you that if you truly want Jesus over pornography – it can be yours today! Satan – let them go in Jesus name!

Come before the Lord knowing you are His son or daughter and that the devil has already been defeated by the blood of Jesus.  Binding and loosing the devil is your RIGHT! Pray this prayer with faith!

9. We pray for the plunder from our efforts and We pray for the healing to begin. We bind to ourselves prosperity and increase in every way over our lives.

Preparing the Bride: What is Babylon and how to come out of it?

We must be preparing the Bride for the return of Christ.  It is pertinent that we get ourselves ready!  Jesus deserves a spotless and wrinkle free Bride.  But I have had several dreams which indicate that she is not getting herself ready.  You can read about those dreams

In an attempt to help my readers get themselves ready, I will begin to write from time to time on different things we can do to prepare ourselves for Christ’s return.

I know the book of Revelation can be hard to understand – even worse, we have theologians who continually argue about the interpretation of some of John’s visions.  All of this confuses us, and we end up washing our hands of the book of Revelation and say to ourselves, “It’s too hard.”

But it’s not too hard.  It can be easy, as long as we take one bite at a time and not try to eat the whole piece of steak at one time.  When we read other books of the Bible, say Colossians, it’s easy to read it in one sitting.  But you cannot do that with the Book of Revelation.  Revelation has to be cut into small pieces and then chewed like a good piece of steak!

The piece I want us to chew on today is the difference between Babylon and the Kingdom of God.

God clearly tells us to come out of Babylon so we will not share in her sins or receive her plagues.

Revelation 18:4-5

Come out of her [Babylon], my people,’

so that you will not share in her sins,

    so that you will not receive any of her plagues;

for her sins are piled up to heaven,

and God has remembered her crimes.

So just what is Babylon and how can we know if we are tangled up in her web?

Babylon is a system of thinking that is contrary to the Lord.

Babylon, essentially, is worldly thinking that was planted in Adam and Eve by the devil in the Garden of Eden.  Its root is fear, and its fruit are greed, selfishness, pride, and mastery (ruling over other people).

The system of Babylon is trusting in one’s self to provide power, significance, and provision no matter who gets hurt in the process.  People use other people to get what they want - and say whatever they think the other person wants to hear in order to get their needs met.  This is a form of prostitution. When this system grows into an entire culture, the people at the bottom of the system are enslaved by those at the top.

The Kingdom of God is built upon love, self-sacrifice, equality, and dependence upon our Creator for provision and significance.  This system sees other people as equals and is built on servanthood. People volunteer to serve others. When this system grows into a culture, the people are set free to live their lives in liberty and peace.  They are free to follow God’s plan for their lives if they so choose.

Babylon is a forced master/slave system.

God’s Kingdom is a voluntary father/son relationship.

We come out from Babylon by examining every relationship in our lives.

The basic question is this: Are we a slave to it?  Or is it voluntary?

Are you a slave to the opinions of friends and family or are you free to be yourself?

Are you a slave to your local church or is it voluntary?

Are you enslaved to money, power, greed, selfishness, anger?  All of these things are the foundation of the Babylonian system.  It is time to get yourself cleansed from all of them!

How do we come out from Babylon?

We first need to have our minds renewed about the difference between Babylon and God’s Kingdom.  We need to feel the fire of God about how serious He is about purging Babylon out of us!  Ask Him to show you His heart on the matter.

Then we need to take very seriously the call to come out of Babylon.  This means we sit with the Lord and have Him reveal to us where Babylon is planted in our hearts.  We take our time and pull up EVERY single weed until it is finished.  This will take diligence and perseverance but it will be WORTH IT!

Pray for God to reveal every relationship that is built on the wrong kingdom.  Ask for everything in your life that is not in His will to be uprooted.

Let the Lord show you what people you need to break ungodly soul ties with.

(Click HERE for the Breaking Soul Ties prayer.)

Break generational curses with sins that you can see have been passed down

(Click HERE for the Breaking Generational sin prayer.)

Ask God to reveal any strongholds that still need to be brought down in your heart then spend some time repenting and asking God to deliver you from the stronghold.  He is MIGHTY to save!

Continue this process of cleansing until the Lord releases you.  After you spend time with God cleansing yourself, be sure to pray the sealing up prayer each time when you are finished.

(find the “Sealing Up” prayer HERE.)

Let us not be apathetic in preparing for the King.  He deserves so much more!  Get yourself ready!

The Bride of Christ is Stuck in the Nineties

We tease my husband a lot because of the mullet haircut he had in the 90s.  My sons laughed pretty hard when they saw his senior picture.  They don't understand...but we were cool back then.  We married in 1993.  I had teased bangs and a pouffy dress, lots of sequins and pearls.  I used the colors "mauve and teal."  It was cool!   ...back then anyway.

A few mornings ago, I had a vision of being dressed as a bride.  I knew that my bridal gown was not up to date at all.  I had a huge veil that wrapped around the front of my head I had teased hair and there were ruffles on my dress. I looked in the mirror and was a bit horrified that I looked like Rachel from the TV show Friends.

I asked the Lord why I was seeing this vision… (Honestly, I was a little bit fearful to hear the interpretation LOL! Since I grew up in the 80s/90s I think I have a fear of teased hair!) After a bit of prayer, I heard the Lord say, “My Bride is stuck in the pattern of the 90s.”

As always, when the Lord speaks one little sentence can bring a tsunami of understanding.  The three-dimensional understanding that I heard in my Spirit was that the Bride had not really updated herself since the 90s.  She was still stuck in the paradigm of what the Lord did twenty-five years ago.

Twenty-five years ago – we were learning all about prayer and intercession and our identity in Christ.  We were reading “What’s so Amazing about Grace” by Phillip Yancey.  We were mesmerized by the “Left Behind” series.  Joyce Meyer had given us “Battlefield of the Mind.”   Tommy Tenney taught us to be “God Chasers.”  Stormie Omartian taught us the power of a Praying Spouse.  And Jim Cymbala gave us a “Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire” for intercession.

But really - for the most part, we haven’t moved forward since then.

There are parts of the Body of Christ that have focused on updating themselves.  But large portions of the Bride are still stuck at the “Battlefield of the Mind.”

Friends – Jesus is coming back for an “up to date” Bride. He’s moved on from the 90s – but we have not. God has moved on to prophecy and the Five Fold ministry.  He has moved beyond pastors and teachers and evangelists – He has installed the apostles and prophets, and most of the Church has not noticed.

God has moved on from simple intercession to deliverance and spiritual warfare.  These are all things that the Body of Christ is lagging behind on.  We must begin to update our “spiritual clothing.”

There are difficulties coming in which we need for our Bridal dress to also be our armor.  There is no more time for ruffles and a big veil.  We must get down to business and get equipped with the powers of the age to come.

These are the last days – and we are not ready for the fight we are about to experience.

After the Lord said, “My Bride is stuck in the pattern of the 90s,”  I heard a scripture verse in my spirit: Hosea 4:6. It was a confirmation of the vision and interpretation I was hearing…“my people are destroyed from a lack of knowledge…because they have rejected knowledge…”

A large portion of the bride has rejected the Five Fold ministry.  They have rejected the apostles and prophets.  They have rejected deliverance and effective spiritual warfare.  They are now woefully unprepared for the coming of the King, and the last battle that looms before His coming.

I know that my readers may feel helpless about this situation because their church has chosen not to “update” their knowledge and understanding in these areas.  You may feel powerless in being equipped in these areas…but you are not. The Lord said to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling.  When you stand before the throne - “My church did not show me how to become ready for the coming of the Bridegroom”  - will not be an acceptable excuse for not getting ready.  There are resources available to you.  You must train yourself to be ready!  In fact, we are behind in getting prepared.

Grace can bring you up to date.  You need to call on the Lord for an update.  Ask Him to show you how to download an update from heaven.  I am going to list some resources below that will help you as well.  If your church is not preparing you and equipping you with tools to be victorious over your enemy, then you need to do it yourself!  No more excuses!  I am here to help you and encourage you too!

If you have not followed me on Facebook, I encourage you to do so.  I release words and videos from time to time that I do not release on this blog.  I want to equip you!  I want to make you ready for Christ.  I will do everything I can to help you understand the powers of the age to come.

I welcome your questions.  I welcome your engagement.  It is my calling to make the Bride ready… how can I help you?

I’m going to be putting more videos on Youtube soon. You can find some of them by clicking this link…

If you have not yet read my book “The Battle for Peace: Who is your master?”  I encourage you to get it!  In it, I explain how to increase your emotional peace by examining what is on the throne of your life. CLICK HERE.

Hollywood’s Dark Night of the Soul

Hollywood has been on my heart for years.  Somehow there is a part of my soul that identifies with the industry.

I love good storytelling.

I love honest stories, funny stories, poignant stories, and convicting stories.  I love television and movies.  I love the actors who bring these stories to life.  From Debbie Reynolds and Bing Crosby to Sandra Bullock and Chris Pratt,  these people feel a part of my life – because they have made the stories of Hollywood come alive.

The power that resides on the mountain of Hollywood is unmatched.

The power that these storytellers have can turn a nation.  When Shirley Temple was on the big screen, it helped to heal our nation from World War 2.

Movies like Star Wars and Star Trek expanded our thinking about the future and in some ways gave us a vision to accomplish. We are literally seeing the Star Trek tricorder becoming a reality in the mobile phones we currently use.

Jim Caviezel and Mel Gibson caused us to leave the theater in somber silence as they told the story of the brutal death of Jesus.

Yet other stories have caused us to take a downward moral turn.  Sex, lawlessness, and violence have clouded our minds with “the dark side.”  But this truth remains – Hollywood can turn a nation.  They can turn it to the light – or the dark.

The power of telling stories to move people in their thinking is a God idea.  Jesus did it all the time through the parables He told.  Jesus created little stories throughout His ministry in order to move the people toward His Kingdom.

While we, as Believers in Jesus, have a legal right to “own” the Storytelling Mountain – we have yet to truly inhabit it.

In fact, we are so offended by Hollywood, and it’s filth, we have abandoned the Storytelling Mountain altogether.

Who owns the Storytelling Mountain?

People like Harvey Weinstein.

The man who was just revealed to have demanded that women sleep with him in order to have a job in Hollywood.  The man who used his position on the mountain to rape and pillage others, thinking he would never get caught.  Meryl Streep publicly called him god not so long ago.

Indeed he was a god.  A small one.  But an idol nonetheless.

All of Hollywood scrambled to distance themselves from Mr. Weinstein.  Women came forward to tell their stories of his lewd and inappropriate actions.  Hollywood turned against Mr. Weinstein so fast that he was even expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture.  His wife has left him, and he was ousted from his own company.

Our Storytelling God caused the clock to strike midnight and justice was served.  Within two weeks, this false idol lost everything he had.  He fell from the top of the mountain all the way to the bottom.

This is the perfect example of gaining the whole world, yet losing your soul.  Outside of God’s mercy, we reap what we sow.  God’s sole desire is to save Harvey Weinstein’s soul.

God desires to save Hollywood’s soul as well.

The Storyteller Mountain is turning our nation (and the world) in the direction of darkness instead of light.  Hollywood was bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus.  It’s been promised to us – but the reaction of Body of Christ to Hollywood has been like the ten spies who came back from scouting the promised land and said, “The giants are too big!”

Well, my friends, the giants are not too big.  One of them just fell, by the hand of the True God.

This is a sign that we must stop standing on this side of the Jordan River, we must begin to pursue the land that has been promised to us by Jesus.

We must realize the power that we have because of His blood and begin to fight in the spirit to see ALL of the giants fall.  We must intercede that Hollywood turns to the Divine Storyteller.  We need to take this stronghold!  Jesus needs it for the final outpouring.

Jesus needs for us to take the Storytelling Mountain for His Kingdom!

The fall of Harvey Weinstein should fill us with faith that God is with us, and it is time to use our spiritual swords to attack.

Not only do we need to pray for the evil giants to come down.  We need to pray that people on this mountain will turn to the Lord and that righteousness will supplant the darkness.

I decree and declare that Hollywood MUST become Holy!

As we cooperate with the plans and purposes of God, we will see Hollywood go through a Dark Night of the Soul.  But this is for God’s glory.  The cleansing of Hollywood is exactly what our nation needs.

Hollywood needs to fear God!

Psalm 64

7 But God will shoot them with his arrows;

they will suddenly be struck down.

8 He will turn their own tongues against them

    and bring them to ruin;

all who see them will shake their heads in scorn.

9 All people will fear;

they will proclaim the works of God

and ponder what he has done.

10 The righteous will rejoice in the Lord

    and take refuge in him;

all the upright in heart will glory in him!

Let us join the Lord in His word through our intercession.

Father God, we pray for the evil giants in Hollywood to come down.  We pray for those who have set themselves up as gods on this mountain, that they would either repent or be removed.

We pray for actors, producers, directors, writers, designers, set crews, and so on.  We pray for the living God to reveal Himself to them.  We pray for righteousness to invade Hollywood.

We pray for God’s people who are already climbing the Storytelling Mountain – grant them wisdom and favor.  Grant them acceleration and all the capital they need to establish this Mountain for the glory of the Kingdom.

We decree and declare that the earth belongs to Jesus and we claim Hollywood for the Lord that His story might be told to the whole world!

In His Name, AMEN

Please consider adding five people from Hollywood to your prayer list.  Pray for writers, set designers, and crew people as well.  This stronghold MUST be overtaken for the sake of the Kingdom.

Why Every Believer Needs to Know the Difference Between Jesus and Cheez-Its

I remember a video really tickled me that won the prize on America’s Funniest Home videos in which a little girl told her mother that she had learned about God, the Holy Spirit, and Cheez-Its in church that day.  Her mom replied, “Do you mean Jesus?”  The little girl insisted, “No!  I mean CHEEZ-ITS!”

CLICK HERE for a link to the Video

In essence, this is exactly how Satan poses as an angel of light.  He presents himself as Jesus except something is just a little bit off.  It’s almost like his name sounds like Cheez-Its.  He’s the Great Almost.

The Word says “…Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.”  2 Corinthians 11:14-15

An “angel of light” in very simple terms is Satan posing himself as Jesus.

We must be careful in these last days to keep ourselves from counterfeit ministries, kingdoms, and people that are built on the Great Almost instead of the Great I AM.

Here are a few things to help keep your eyes open for:

1.  The Great I AM doesn't have any strings attached when welcoming people to His Kingdom.  Salvation is FREE if one believes in his heart and confesses with his mouth that Jesus is Lord, even for the worst of sinners.

The Great Almost has prerequisites in place.  And once you “give” your life to Christ you must abide by a hundred different rules in order to keep your place in the Kingdom.  But the truth is that your salvation does not rest on how much you obey God.  It rests on the finish work of Christ.  (side note: your eternal reward DOES rest on how much you obey Jesus – 1 Corinthians 3:12-15, but not your salvation.)

2.  The Kingdom of the Great I AM is built on Grace AND Truth.  He gives grace to the humble and truth for the proud.  He gives grace to the repentant and truth for the wicked.

The kingdom of the Great Almost is built on a pendulum that swings back and forth between Religious Rules and Emotional Happiness.  It does not care what the Word of God says – It says “you can’t be saved unless you are good.”  And it swings to “God just wants you to be happy – so do whatever feels right.”

3. The Great I AM invites us to use our giftings to help build His Kingdom.

The Great Almost invites you to build your own “Barbie dream house” kingdom or the kingdom of another human being.

4. The Great I AM always sends an invitation to join Him, but He never forces someone.

The Great Almost and his followers – demand that you follow him and conform to his ways.  They have no problem using force or manipulation if necessary.

5. True light from the Great I AM sets us free.

False light from the Great Almost puts us in bondage.

I am sorry to tell you that there are churches that are built on the Great I AM and there are churches that are built on the Great Almost.

There are people who serve Jesus, and there are people who serve Cheez-Its.

They look very similar on the outside.  But when you really look at the kind of light they are shining – you have to ask yourself these questions:

1. Is there true liberty?  Am I free to be myself, or must I conform to the cookie cutter pattern?

2. Do they believe the whole Word of God?  Or do they teach the letter of the law instead of the spirit of the law?  Or do they conveniently leave out the hard parts of scripture in order to appease their personal doctrine?

3. Do they insist that I help to build “their” church/kingdom?  Or encourage me to focus on the one Jesus is building?

4. If I left the church/person, would they let me go and love me unconditionally?  Or would they insist that if I leave, I am wrong?

5. Does this church/person set me free or put me in bondage?

Sometimes it is really difficult to see the difference between the bright and blinding angel of light and the soft glow of the glory of God.

Telling the difference between the counterfeit and the real is something that we must be equipped to do in these last days!  God’s true Kingdom is one of invitation to experience the unconditional love of Jesus, who is full of grace and truth.  Anything outside of those parameters is an angel of light…or Cheez-Its.

Steps to Wholeness:

Father God, if there are any “angels of light” in my life, I ask for you to open my eyes to them.  I pray that everything in my life would be built on the Kingdom of the Great I AM.  Tear down everything in my life that is built on the Great Almost.  I want You, Jesus!  I want everything in my life to be pure and holy.

Deliver me from false kingdoms.  Set me free that I might praise Your name.

In the mighty name of Jesus, AMEN

The Urgency for Believers to be Equipped with the Powers of the Age to Come

As a watchman intercessor in this nation, I can see something that is about to break forth that the Body of Christ is not ready for.

The battle of the ages, between the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness is about to be sprung upon us in a deeper way than we have ever experienced.  And hear me when I say…  THE CHURCH IS NOT READY!

The battle that is about to be released is a spiritual battle for the ages.  It is the one before the return of the Lord.  The Final Battle.

The devil knows his time is short and he is pulling out all of the stops in order to see God’s people broken, devoured, and full of fear.  There is an evil that is being released that most of the Body of Christ has no understanding about how to fight.

Spirits of insanity, false signs and wonders, demonic manifestations, persecution, torment unto death, and anti-Christs that are VERY good counterfeits are awaiting their evil master’s signal to “go.”  When that happens, many good Bible Believing Christians are going to be carried away as prisoners of war.  If the Body of Christ does not soon become equipped with the powers of the age to come – they will be overcome by the darkness and taken out of commission for the Final Battle.

(I do not mean they will lose their salvation.  I mean they will lose their ability to fight in the spiritual war that rages, because they will be overcome with fear or with deception.)

It’s not too late to learn about the “Powers of the Age to Come.”

Have you ever heard a sermon preached about that?  The phrase is coined by the writer of Hebrews in Chapter 6 verse 5.  He speaks of Believers tasting the POWERS OF THE AGE TO COME.

It seems that in the 21st century very few of us have experienced these powers and yet, we see them sprinkled throughout the Word of God.

Paul defines them a little further in 2 Corinthians 10:4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

The powers of the age to come make no sense to this world – they are spiritual weapons.  Let’s look at a few.

The enemy’s armies were routed by the worship of God’s people. (2 Chronicles 20)

Water and food can be ‘healed.’ (Ex. 15 and 2 Kings 4)

Moses parted the waters.  (Ex. 14)

Body’s healed.   (Acts 3)

Stephen saw heaven opened as he was being stoned.  (Acts 7)

Phillip was transported from one place to another.  (Acts 8)

Peter’s shadow fell on someone and they were healed.  (Acts 5)

The people were led by visions and dreams.  (Acts 10)

They cast out demons. (Matt. 8)

The dead were raised.  (Luke 9, Mark 5)

All of these things kind of blow my mind… Because I have only seen a few of these “powers” happen with my own eyes.

We don’t know how to access most of these.  Not many of us have the faith for these things.  And yet – they are the very things we are going to need in this Final Battle.

Recently, I had a vision that I was a prisoner (along with many others) held captive in a cell in the wall of a Roman Colosseum. We each had windows to see into the arena. The lions would be released against our brother and sister Christians and they would be mauled to death.

I felt powerless. I asked the Lord to renew my mind that I was powerless against this and I renounced the lie that I couldn’t do anything about it. The Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, “You think you are powerless because you think you have to fight this with your intelligence – but this is a spiritual war and the weapons you hold are not carnal – they are spiritual. You have a sword that could end this.”

The vision immediately flipped to me standing before the lion. I took my sword and aimed for its throat and I said, “You will not kill my brothers and sisters anymore!” My sword cut deep enough that it severed the throat of the lion and it bled out on the ground. Then I began handing out swords to my fellow Believers and they began to use them on the lions and pretty soon we were victorious!

It was a spiritual war we were fighting. I had assumed it wasn’t.

I feel a bit helpless watching Christian bakers and florists who stick by their religious convictions and football coaches who pray get picked off by evil lions and mauled to death. I feel helpless with all of the yelling going on about racism and division and hate. But I think the mistake we’ve been making is assuming that we have to fight the war with the right words and worldly intelligence.

We don’t.

We must stop arguing with the weapon called “intelligence” and begin warring with the authority of the Lord and cut off the spiritual lions who are devouring the truth of God’s Kingdom!

This is how we use the powers of the age to come. (Hebrews 6) We use our God-given authority, bought for us on the cross, to come against powers and principalities that are attempting to devour our nation and our brothers and sisters in Christ. Let us all use our swords together and cut off this attempt by the enemy to take out our nation.

By faith, raise your sword and repeat after me, “By the blood of Jesus, I cut off the head of the lion who is attempting to divide our nation. I cut off the head of the lion who is devouring my fellow Believers. You WILL be silenced, in the name that is above all names – JESUS!”

This is how we begin to use the Powers of the Age to Come!

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.  See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.  Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”   Is 60:1-3

It's Time to Burn the Barbie Dream House

I've had one.

You've had one.

We all have built up a Barbie Dream House in our minds about what our lives should look like.

They are all a little different and yet somehow they are all the same. They are the the little picture perfect life that we want our lives to resemble.

We spend our time, money, and energy trying to achieve our Barbie Dream Houses. We believe that if we could just achieve it - we would have peace.

But it's a lie.

As Believers in Jesus Christ, our peace must come from Him alone.

If we gain peace because we have achieved a perceived circumstance in our lives, it is actually a false peace. And the Barbie Dream House has become an idol.

We cannot find our identity in our Barbie Dream Houses. We find our identity in Christ.

God will never allow us to be at peace apart from Him. He is the peace-giver...not some set of perfect circumstances.

Picking up our cross and following Him requires that we lay down our fleshly dreams and pick up His. We have better and lasting possessions in Heaven.

As Believers, we live for the reward we will receive in heaven, not the temporal one here on earth.

Burning down the expectations of your Barbie Dream House will be the greatest freedom you have ever known!

Let all of your kingdoms fall and surrender it all! Pick up your cross and follow Him...

He's got a better plan for you anyway!

A Key to Persevering Through a Life Storm

The storms of life come to all of us.  Not one of us escapes the sudden thunder and lightning and torrents of rain as we navigate through a fallen world.

Some storms last longer than others.  Some storms are more violent than others.  Some of them are not our fault - some of them are.

As Believers in Jesus, sometimes we can speak to the storm and it will become calm - but if the storm doesn't cease - then we must persevere through it.

Twenty-four-hour storms can be just as difficult as two-year storms.  Depending on our maturity and our emotional state when the storms hit.

However, no matter where you are on the path of life, no matter how long your storm is - there is one key that is true for all Believers in the midst of life's storms.

We are called to PERSEVERE!  We are called to NOT GIVE UP!

This is exactly the enemy's goal - to get us to quit.

So this is a key I have learned to never quit:

When the FEELING of wanting to give up overwhelms you, instead of giving into it - make yourself a goal to reach.

Say to yourself, "I choose not to quit and trust God.  I can make it until tomorrow morning!"

Then when tomorrow morning comes make another goal.  "I choose not to quit and trust God!  I can make it until lunch time."

Then when you reach lunch time make another goal.  "I choose not to quit and trust God!  I can make it to the weekend!"

When you reach the weekend make another goal.  "I choose not to quit and trust God!  I can make it until next weekend!"

What happens is that the storms of life DO end!  There IS light at the end of the tunnel.  Darkness may last for the night but JOY comes in the morning... IF WE DO NOT GIVE UP!

Persevere - by making small goals for yourself.  Pretty soon the storms of life don't cause as much fear because you have already conquered one.  You have gained knowledge about how to overcome a storm.  They don't seem quite as overwhelming.

We actually become mature as we face the storms and refuse to give up!

James 1:2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

God will turn everything for your good...only DO NOT QUIT!

It's Time to Walk Away

It's time to walk away from toxic relationships.  It's time to value yourself enough to go where God is calling you even if it requires the breaking off of relationships.

If we stay too long trying to get someone to love us or appreciate us we risk getting off of the "Path of Life."

As Believers, it is not our goal to have peace in all of our relationships. Our goal is to walk with the One who we have pledged our lives to.  This requires that we recognize when a relationship is holding us back... and are willing to go with God, no matter what we lose on the journey.

Today the Lord is asking you, "Will you walk away from trying to get people to love you and go where I am taking you?"

Your journey is the one you will receive a reward for on Judgment Day.  On that day, God will judge you on how well you loved.  But we are called to love Him first.  We are called to walk with Him first.

We cannot love people more than we love Him.  Seek first His Kingdom, His righteous, His opinion, His desires for our lives and everything will fall into place.

Walk away from whatever toxic thing He's asking you to... moving forward in your journey depends on it.

"We must obey God and not men." Acts 5:29

What Every Believer Should Know About Walking Closer to the Lord

If you are anything like me – you want to walk as close to the Lord as you can.

I remember pursuing the Lord with everything that I had during a personal revival in my late twenties.  I was passionate about walking closely with Him.

I fasted.

I prayed.

I worshiped.

I studied the Word.

I turned my thoughts to the Lord at all times of the day and night.

But I hit a plateau.  The same things weren’t drawing me close to him anymore.  I was stuck.

I spoke to my pastor about my dilemma and asked, “What else can I do to get closer to the Lord?  I have fasted, prayed, worshiped, read His word – but I can’t seem to draw any closer.  I want more of Him.”

My pastor spoke a life-giving admonition to me.  He said, “Tisha, do you need more of the Lord? Or does He need more of you?”

The answer, of course, was that the Lord needed more of me.  I needed to lay down some pride.  I needed to lay down some presumption.  I needed to lay down my flesh.

Father God asked me, “Tisha, are you willing to be a fool for me?”

I told the Lord I was ready to be His fool.  But I had NO IDEA how much I still loved the approval of men!

What I now understand about that time in my life was that I desired to be in the Holy of Holies with the Lord.  But I was not allowed into the Holy of Holies because I had not been purified enough.

I had quite a bit of twisted thinking to lay down. I still had unrepented sin in my heart. And I had some idolatry in my heart that kept me from getting any closer to the Lord.

You see… God still requires purification to have the fullness of His presence.

In the Old Testament, the layout of the temple was a road map for us to understand how to draw closer to His presence.

His people entered into the outer court where they sacrificed animals at the Bronze Altar because of their sins.  Then they were washed and received forgiveness at the Bronze Laver.

Then they entered into the inner court where they drew closer to the Lord’s presence through worship.  Here we find the Lampstand, which is a symbol of the Holy Spirit.  We find the Showbread, which is a symbol of Christ and the Word.  And we find the Altar of Incense which is a symbol of prayer.

It is only after we pass through these steps that we find ourselves standing before the Holy of Holies which houses the glory of God’s presence.

In the Old Testament, a priest only entered into the Holy of Holies once a year.  He entered to sprinkle blood on the mercy seat for the sins of the people.

Hebrews 9:7 But only the high priest entered the inner room [Holy of Holies], and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.

We understand that now Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross, tore the curtain that stood between God’s people and His presence.  His blood was good enough to be sprinkled on the mercy seat once and for all.

(Hallelujah to the Lamb!)

The one thing we need to realize, that I think most Believers dismiss, is that our sin STILL separates us from the Holy of Holies.  We cannot have the fullness of God’s presence until our sin is repented for and put under the blood.

And we have a lot more sin to confess to the Lord than we even realize.  Anything on the throne of our hearts other than God is idolatry.

We must repent from the worship of the approval of man.  We are guilty of finding comfort in fleshly things rather than God.  We are guilty of manipulation, lust, greed, perversion, pride, self-righteousness…  I could go on, but you get the gist.

Unrepented sin keeps us from the fullness of God’s presence.

The entrance of the Holy of Holies is blocked to us --- for our good.  Because the closer you get to the Holy of Holies the more pure our hearts must be.  He is a consuming fire.

Rick Joyner says, “What you can get away with in the outer court, will get you killed in the Holy of Holies.”

Some of us are “Outer Court Christians.”  We are always sinning, then confessing, then getting cleansed.  Repeat.  Sin. Confession. Cleansing.

Some of us are “Inner Court Christians.”  We have set our mind to draw closer to the Lord through the Holy Spirit and Prayer and the Word.  But we still don’t have the fullness of His Presence.

Still, some of us are addicted to the presence of the Lord and we just have to do ANYTHING we can to be near Him.

Here is the knowledge I have gained about coming near to the presence of God.  If I feel far away from the Lord and desire to be nearer, there is something I can do about it.  We are not powerless in drawing near to the Lord.  We must remove all of the debris in our hearts that separates us from His presence!

Begin to ask the Lord if the Holy of Holies is blocked for a reason?

Is there idolatry in your heart? Is there a stronghold that needs to be cut off? Is there a generational sin that needs to be repented of?  Is there a soul tie with a person that is holding you back?

The more you press in for the answers these questions – the more understanding you’ll have about how to draw closer to the Lord.

It’s worth it!  I’m serious!

Hear my testimony when I tell you –

there is nothing more wonderful than walking through this life in the fullness of God’s presence.

Steps to Wholeness:

Ask the Lord if the Holy of Holies is blocked for you.

Ask Him to show you what is in the way of being closer to Him.

Believe that God desires to be with you more than anything.

Repent of any sins He reveals.

Break any generational curses He reveals.

I was about to write out a prophetic word on Facebook that has been ringing in my head recently, but I felt the Holy Spirit say "Not yet... I have something different for you to post."

About five minutes later, I got a text from a friend reminding me to do a video on "Consumer Church."  We had spoken about how it's easy to get caught up in consuming spiritual food and never really use the spiritual calories by serving others.

Here is a four-minute video explaining what Consumer Church is and how to NOT to waste your spiritual caloric intake!

A Reminder about the Simplicity of God’s Kingdom

Sometimes we make being part of God’s Kingdom too hard.

As Believers, I think we sometimes get caught up in the lie that we must have “understanding” about God’s Kingdom to be mature.  The truth is that maturity in God’s Kingdom is more about believing God than it is being able to explain the mysteries of God.

Understanding and taking part in God’s Kingdom doesn’t have to be so deep.  The mystery of creation and the treasures of salvation are hidden for little children to find.

Maturity is believing that the universe is in the capable hands of a Good God.

Maturity is knowing that God has your best interests at heart.

Maturity is having faith on the hard days and trusting that understanding will come later.

Jesus came to demonstrate the simplicity of God’s Kingdom.  He came to show us that having knowledge and understanding didn’t make us GREAT in His Kingdom like the Pharisees taught.  He came to show us that

were the foundation of His creation.

Maturity is not found in understanding.  Maturity is found in child-like

pleases God.

It delights our Father when we trust Him.

Knowing the Word of God is good, but having

in the Word is better.

A two word prayer that is surrendered with great

knowing God will answer is far better than an eloquent avalanche of empty words meant to impress man.

Instead of making Christianity so difficult, remember today that the God of the Universe loves you and is thinking of you this very moment.  He is never too busy.  He is fully engaged in your life.

God has written out your story.  Every single page of it.  It’s a really great story – especially the ending!  Every ending is based upon

!  There is the

of heaven.  There is a

in seeing your loved ones again. There is the

of no more pain or sorrow or tears.

If we begin to let the warfare of this earthly life overshadow our vision, we begin to sink into hopelessness.  But hopelessness is a lie meant to derail us from becoming all that God intended.

When we put our

in God and what He has prepared for us, we have stepped into His Kingdom.

can only be taken from you if you allow it to be taken.

Hold onto

today – Jesus paid a deep price for it.

We all have a deep desire to be

.  We were created with this need.  God Himself is

and we are created in His image.  Coming to the realization of how deeply and fully we are loved by God sets us free from wondering if we are “doing enough.”

When Jesus demonstrated the Kingdom, he stripped away the heaviness of following the law and regulations.  He simplified everything by concentrating our focus on two essential pillars of His Kingdom.

Love Him by turning your mind to Him.  Love Him by having a conversation with Him.  Love Him by obeying.  Love Him by trusting His ways.

…and LOVE your neighbors.

Love those around you.  Love them by serving them.  Love them by speaking the truth.  Love them by encouraging them to be all God created them to be.

Throw off the heaviness of thinking that you have to understand.  Throw off the heaviness of the law and its regulations.  Throw off the hopelessness that seeks to engulf you.  Instead, put on Faith like a garment.  Hold on to Hope like a lifeline.  And know that you are loved perfectly by your Heavenly Father.

The Kingdom really isn’t that difficult.   It comes down to

A Word for Those Struggling with Self-Doubt

Six or seven months ago I had hit a rough patch where self-doubt kept weaving its way into my mind.  The feeling of being vulnerable and exposed would paralyze me.  I was moving more slowly than normal.  I kept doubting that I was really hearing God and I was doubting my authority over the enemy.

It wasn’t a constant barrage of self-doubt.  Just a few times a week, I would second guess the steps I took.  In the Lord’s graciousness, He brought me some discipline as to why I kept falling into self-doubt.

I share with you the word He gave to me in the hopes that it will help some of you who have had the same struggles I have had.

Beloved, Self-doubt is your biggest enemy.

You cannot doubt yourself if your faith is in Me.

Because it won't rely on you.

I will never fail you.  Can you ever think of a time when you needed words that I did not give them to you?

Self-doubt means you are focused inward not upward.

Self-doubt means you are worried about what others think.

The root of self-doubt is the approval of men.

You doubt that you are hearing Me, but I have given you protocols to test My voice.  Don’t be foolish and not test the Spirits.  But also don’t be overly full of doubt and miss My voice either.

My protocols are never turned off.  You can always test the spirits.  You can always ask for wisdom. You always have authority over the spiritual atmosphere.

The demonic must always submit and move out of the way if you tell them to do so. But if you don’t believe your words – there is no faith behind them.  The enemy does not have to obey you,  if you do not believe your own words.  If you doubt your authority – you are like a wave on the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.  You won’t receive anything because it is not coming from faith.

If there is fogginess, take authority over the fogginess.

If there is doubt, take authority over the doubt and take captive your thoughts and submit them to Me.

If you can’t hear Me, take authority over a “famine of hearing the words of the Lord.”  Command the heavens and the skies to open up for you.

Your authority has been bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus.

When you doubt that you are taking the right step – remember that I can easily correct your path, if you are seeking My Kingdom first.  I will never let you fall if you are seeking after Me with a pure heart.

No one walks through life perfectly.  But if you remember My goodness and the depth of My love for you, you will not walk in the fear of man – and you will walk in faith of who I AM.

Do not walk in the self- doubt of your inadequacies.  Walk in the faith that I hold the whole world in My hands and I have your best interests at heart.

I never let the righteous fall.

Psalm 55:22  (NLT)

22 Give your burdens to the Lord,

and he will take care of you.

He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.

Steps to Wholeness:

Father God, please forgive my unbelief and my self-doubt.  Forgive me for caring too much about what men think of me.  I trust You.  I trust You to correct me.  I trust You to carry my burdens.  Help me to remember to test the spirits but not to fear mis-hearing Your voice.   I want to know You.  I want to walk with You.  I lay down my self-doubt and I hand You my burdens.  I want Your will and Your ways – I believe that You will not permit the godly to slip and fall.  Thank You, Lord, for Your graciousness.  In the mighty name of Jesus, AMEN!
